Welcome to Squirrels!
Ferny Crofts has a range of activities available now for Scouting's newest Section - Squirrels!
Squirrels can take part in a number of instructed and self-led activities across the site, including our new Squirrel Trail where you can help Syril the Squirrel find his colour!
Activities Available
At Ferny Crofts we believe Squirrels can do almost anything that any other young person can do! So we have developed the following range of activities for Squirrel Scouts to participate in:
INSTRUCTED ACTIVITIES
Archery
Archery is a great fun target activity, offering adventure, coordination and achievement to all.
For Squirrels we have a special set of Archery equipment suitable for their size and strength.
Backwoods Cooking
Backwoods Cooking explores cooking on an open fire with hazel cooking sticks.
Bouldering
Bouldering is low-level climbing, without ropes and using your team members and leaders as 'spotters' to aid safety. Bouldering is performed by staying close to the ground and climbing horizontally.
Shelter Building
Shelter building sees participants using natural materials to build survival shelters in the woods around Ferny Crofts
Tomahawk Throwing
Squirrels with Tomahawks!?
Don't worry, we have an awesome set of Squirrel-appropriate Tomahawks to allow young people to have a go at this great fun target sport.
Tomahawks develops hand-eye coordination, accuracy and is great fun!
