SCHOOLS AND YOUTH GROUPS
Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre is a centre of excellence for outdoor activities set in 31 acres of the beautiful New Forest. Onsite activities add to the attraction and make us the ideal choice for an outdoor adventure or school trip. So whether you want to bring your class for an afternoon of adventure as a reward, a weeks’ visit based around team working and citizenship or a particular subject area, we can develop a programme to fulfil your needs.
Why Ferny Crofts?
Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre is owned and operated by Hampshire Scouts.
In Scouting, our aim is simple – to help the individual achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and economic potential. Young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing', when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.
All these things can be achieved during a visit to Ferny Crofts.
Our dedicated team is on hand seven days a week to guide you through each stage of planning and delivering the perfect outdoor experience for your class. We can deliver as much of the programme as you like, designing a bespoke experience and taking into account your specific objectives for the trip.
Accommodation Options
Indoor Accommodation
Ferny Crofts offers three indoor accommodation units;
- The Mountbatten Lodge (32 beds),
- The Croft Centre (32 beds)
- The Inca Suite (6 beds).
These are available for hire on a weekly, weekend (minimum 2 nights) or daily basis during the week. Each of these units have a fully fitted kitchen, a dining room/activity/living area, are centrally heated, and have bathrooms equipped with showers, toilets and wash basins.
The “Sky High” Conservatory is a large 10m x 4m timber and glass room attached to the Croft Centre. The room is furnished to a high standard, with tables and chairs and can include tea/coffee making facilities. The Conservatory can be booked independently or in conjunction with the Croft Centre, at an additional charge. The design of the Conservatory means it is ideal as an indoor space for day visitors.
Standing Camps
Our Standing Camps provide the excitement and enjoyment of camping in the heart of the New Forest without the hassle of setting up camp and putting away wet tents.
Stay in our 2-person tents (individual tents for Teachers), which will be pitched by our team before you arrive, so all you have to do is bring your sleeping kit!
Own Camps
If you wish to bring your own tents, cooking and camping equipment then Ferny Crofts can provide a campsite of your choice to create the perfect home for your outdoor adventure.
Catering
Alongside all our Accommodation options we can provide catering for the duration of your stay.
We work with a local catering company to provide nutritious and balanced meal options to keep your group well fuelled for adventure.

Activity Programme
Once you have decided on your choice of accommodation, it’s time to develop your activity programme. We offer a range of flexible programme options, to suit the requirements of every group:
Bespoke Education and Adventure Programme
Our team will work with you to design a bespoke programme with accommodation to suit your needs, filled with activities throughout the day. Our Instructor Team will lead all parts of the programme for you, leaving you and your staff to enjoy the experience alongside your students.
We are also able to offer full catering options to make your stay even easier.
Design your own Programme
This option is aimed at teachers who would like to take a more active role in delivering their school trip. You simply book your chosen accommodation (indoor or camping) and then select any number of our instructed or self-led activities to fit into your programme.
Activity days
If you are local to Ferny Crofts, why not come just for the day to experience a few of our activities?
As with longer stays with us, you can either work together with our Instructors to develop a programme that best suits your needs, or simply choose from our range of Activities for the day.
Site Visits
We encourage you and your colleagues to come and visit us at your own convenience, in order to take a tour of the Site and discuss your requirements in detail. We are open seven days a week, and can make an appointment to suit your schedule.
