Ferny Crofts Duke of Edinburgh
duke of edinburgh

Ferny Crofts regularly host a wide range of Youth Groups attending site for their Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme expeditions. Our location within the New Forest National Park makes us the perfect base for your group's Duke of Edinburgh hike.

Campsite Amenities

Our location within the New Forest makes us a popular campsite for groups completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. This is partly due to to Ferny Crofts being located within walking distance of a range of other campsites.

As a site we can accommodate any group size depending on availability. We often have groups of between 5 - 150 Duke of Edinburgh participants staying on site for training or the expedition. Some stay for one night and others for longer.

Each campsite within Ferny Crofts has its own concrete fire stand that groups can use throughout their stay on site. Groups also have access to the onsite amenities which include toilets, hot running water, electric hand dryers, individual shower cubicles and washing up sinks.

At Ferny Crofts we are committed to ensuring our site is run in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner, so all of our toilets on site are flushed with rainwater.

We have a selection of indoor accommodation available on site, including our 6 bed Inca Suite that is ideal for adult leaders staying on site that do not wish to camp with the young participants. This includes a fully equipped kitchen, toilet, shower/wetroom, table and chairs, sofas and access to wifi (code to be obtained from Reception).

New Forest - permission and notification

The New Forest National Park is an extremely popular destination for both Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. In order to upkeep and continue to care for the Forest the Forestry Commission require any group organisers to contact them and inform them of your planned visit.

Notification Form - should be completed by any group who are visiting and using the New Forest and that fall under certain criteria. This is not a permission form but is essential in order to provide the Forestry Commission information about what groups are using the Forest and the numbers of participants involved.

Permission Form this should be completed by any group that does not fall within the criteria required for the notification form. For example, using routes beyond suggested tracks, dates coinciding with car park/area closures.

We want all groups to enjoy The New Forest National Park without negatively impacting it's amazing environment. Click here for a helpful document for you groups to view before visiting.
